The National Foreign Languages Project (NFLP) was a large-scale initiative by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to improve the teaching and learning of foreign languages, primarily English, in Vietnam’s education system. The project was approved in 2008 and began to be implemented in 2010 and will complete in 2025, with a view to improving the foreign language capacity of Vietnam’s workforce.
- Making foreign language instruction compulsory from grade three in all schools
- Improving teacher professional development, including English proficiency and pedagogic skills
- Integrating IT into teaching practices
- Developing new textbook series for all educational levels
- Reinforcing changes to language assessment policy
